While the book says it's designed for beginners to intermediate users, beginners with no Elements experience will be lost. The authors assume you have a basic understanding of the software. One very frustrating problem is they constantly give you only the keyboard shortcuts for activating features and not the corresponding menu option. For example, one paragraph said, press D, then X then Alt-Backspace. While this did what they said it would do, I learned nothing because there was no explanation of what the D, the X, or the Alt-Backspace did. There has to be another way to accomplish the task without having to memorize the keystrokes. But I guess I'll have to read another book to find out what it is. To compound the frustration, there is not list of keyboard shortcuts in the book. The book is very useful if you already have a basic understanding of Elements. It is a good resource for learning specific features of the software. But it is definitely not for people that are new to Elements.
