I used point-and-shoot cameras for 30 years in my practice analyzing and recording the facts about land and buildings throughout Alaska. I learned much about composition, shutter speed and film ISO, but I relied on the camera to deal with the aperture issues. Now that I am retired, I'm looking at photography as more of a science and art form. Knowing what I knew and did not know about, I shopped around for books on digital SLR photography. This is one of many I purchased.I have found David Busch's Mastering Digital SLR Photography, Fourth Edition is one of the most helpful, useful and valuable books for one in my situation. Now that I am up to speed on practically every aspect of digital photography, I find it easy to understand the other books and websites. All I need to do is take 1,000 photographs each day and by month-end, I may be something more than a novice.I have both the Kindle edition and the paperback version of this book. The Kindle version is most helpful because I can highlight the parts that need my attention and take my tablet out into the field with me. It will be easier look up the information I want using the Kindle edition. Either version is valuable.I highly recommend this book, even though it could benefit from the help of a highly qualified technical editor.
